Based around the archive at Vancouver’s VIVO Media Arts Centre, this 2015 sound piece conceives of oral histories and soundscapes as a means to reflect upon art production and processes. Inspired by an early artwork by Mona Hatoum, “Networks, Distance, So Much I Want to Say” addresses the egalitarian hopes of early artist networks, the difficulties of representation, and reflects on modern state and corporate surveillance through networked technologies.

The launch and listening party for “Networks, Distance, So Much I Want to Say” was accompanied by an artist talk and demonstration of early communications technology by Hank Bull and Alex Muir. Photo documentation by Alisha Weng.
